SUBJECT :Do & Dont Fire 


Do’s :-

 

  • Faulty electrical appliances should be repaired/ replaced immediately, Switches and fuses should confirm correct rating of circuit.
  • Keep means of escape routes/ stairs clear of obstruction.
  • Dispose of waste material at regular intervals
  • Use miniature circuit breakers and earth leakage circuit breaker.
  • Use one socket for one appliance and switch off the electric supply of the fire affected areas.
  • Switch of the main switch when leaving home for long duration.
  • Keep match box, lighter, crackers away from children.
  • Keep LPG stove on raised platform and turn off the cylinder valve, burner knob of the gas stove after cooking.
  • Keep a bucket of water handy while using fire works.
  • Emergency exits on all side of the pandal shall be kept sufficiently wide (Minimum 1.5 mtr.)
  • First aid fire extinguishers or water buckets must be installed at strategic points in side and out side of the pandal.
  • In case of burn injuries due to fire, pour water over burn till pain subsides.
  • The fire and emergency service telephone numbers 101, 2702333, 2703507 should be displayed at prominent places.
  • Cooking area should be totally segregated from the main temporary structure and preferably made of G.I sheets in pandal/ tents.

 

DON’T’S :-

 

  • No combustible material like wood, shaving, straw, flammable liquids/ chemicals, explosive and similar materials should be permitted to be stored in the vicinity or inside the pandal.
  • No synthetic materials or synthetic ropes should be in temporary structure.
  • Don’t dispose off lighter cigarette ends carelessly.
  • Don’t plug too many electric appliances in one socket.
  • Don’t paint fire detectors/ sprinklers heads.
  • Don’t use substandard fixtures, appliances.
  • Don’t lay wires under carpet, mats or door ways.
  • Avoid over loading/ temporary loose electric wiring.
  • Don’t place obstructions in exit points.
  • No structure should be erected underneath any live electric wire/ line.
  • Don’t wear loose clothes while cooking. Avoid synthetic clothing.
  • Don’t keep crackers in pockets.
  • Don’t store waste material at roof top.
  • Don’t use stick, candle, lighter etc. to check LPG leakage.
  • Don’t use oil, ointment, cream etc. on burning skin.
