Chandigarh experiences heavy rainfall during monsoon season i.e. July to late September, with an average rainfall of 1059.3 mm, which is calculated to be 60380.1million liters or 13241 gallons or 36.28 MGD per annum. As per the study conducted by Ground Water Board Chandigarh, this heavy amount of water seeps down to the aquifers and helps to recharge them remarkably.
