The Department of Forests, Environment and Science and Technology, along with CREST, organised different events to mark World Forestry Day in the city today
Top bureaucrats in the UT Administration took part in a cycle rally which also saw participation of about 250 students from Carmel Convent School, Stephen’s School, Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 33, Government Model High School, Sector 37, and Government High School (Smart School), Sector 53.The rally began from the Open Hand Monument at Punjab & Haryana High Court and culminated at Sukhna Lake. The event was organised in collaboration with Yuvsatta, an NGO, and 94.3 My FM.Meanwhile, a ‘greenathon’ was held at Sukhna Lake by the Department of Environment, in association with the Gulmohar Eco Club of St. Kabir Public School, Sector 26, and a group of students, “Think Green to Clean”. More than 200 students participated in the event, which was flagged off by the Flying Sikh, Milkha Singh.In another event, World Earth Day was celebrated at the Elante Mall in Industrial Area. On the occasion, a short film on solar energy was screened while an exhibition on solar energy products was held at the Paryavaran Bhawan in Sector19.
