Raising the pitch for eco-friendly practices on World Earth Day, students from tricity schools on Wednesday participated in a "walkathon" during which they made an impassioned plea to visitors at the Sukhna lake to save natural resources.

Accompanied by legendary athlete Milkha Singh, the students carried pro-planet banners and posters. Milkha Singh flagged off the walkathon organized by UT administration and St Kabir School.

Students from The Institute of Blind, Sector 26; Government Model School (Timber Market), Sector 26; St John's High School, Strawberry Fields World School and Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, participated in the event.
