A month after the Centre cleared the Chandigarh Master Plan 2031, the UT today notified it.
The Master Plan, along with the annexures, is being uploaded on the UT website.
The issues of latest population projections and agreeable contours of the regional master plan in connection with Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh have been incorporated in the Master Plan.
It may be mentioned that while hearing a case pertaining to the final notification of Chandigarh’s Master Plan, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had given three weeks time to the authorities concerned at the Centre and Chandigarh.
After the notification by the Centre, the UT Administration shall execute various proposals in the Master Plan for improving and upgrading the city’s infrastructure.
The work on formulating the UT Master Plan had started in 2008.
The Administration had notified the draft in October 2013 and invited objections from city residents.
In all, 171 representations were received by the Department of Urban Planning.
Later, a Board of Inquiry and Hearing was constituted to examine the objections to the draft Master Plan.
