A two-day workshop on GLOBE teachers organised by the Indian Environmental Society at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 46-D, concluded, here on Sunday. On the concluding day, teachers visited the Botanical Garden at Sarangpur to get practical knowledge on soil and water protocol. They learnt to measure different parameters such as temperature of water and soil, density of water, pH of water, height of tree, latitude and longitude of place, transparency of water using various equipments like maximum minimum thermometers, pH meter, Densitometer, sachet Disc and sieve.
Dress-making competition
Mother’s Week celebrations at Little Angels School concluded here with a message on how important it is to value our mothers who spend their lifetime caring for us. Children made special cards for their mothers. The school also involved their mothers in the celebrations. Mothers and children danced and sang together. A dress-making competition was organised for mothers.”
Art competition
An on-the-spot art competition was organised for students of classes VI, VII and VIII at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27-B. The students participated enthusiastically showcasing their creativity using various hues and colours. Drawings were adjudged on the basis of their colouring and presentation.
Family Day celebrated
International Family Day was observed at The British School, Sector 44. Students were taught the importance of family in the fast changing world of today by colouring activities for members of family. Students of the senior wing from the Social Studies Department presented a play that focused on the theme uniting the world as a large family in times of natural disasters like the Nepal earthquake. The play showcased how all countries united to put in humanitarian efforts for Nepal.
Mother’s Day
Weeklong Mother’s Day celebrations concluded at Government Model High School, Sector 34. Students prepared cards, charts and posters on motherhood.
Competitions held
Students of Kindergarten celebrated Mother’s Day at Gurukul Global School, Mani Majra. The aim of the celebration was to focus on the importance and role of mothers in developing and building a child and his career so as to turn him into a good human being. Various competitions were organised for mothers. The mothers also shared their thoughts and feelings on the motherhood.
Inter-school competitions
PANCHKULA: Students of CL DAV Public School-11, brought laurels to the school in inter-school competitions organised by Sri Sathya Sai Centre. Sapna Malik of Class XII won the first prize in English declamation and made a place in the state-level competition. Parth and Ayushi bagged the third prize in the presentation of a motivational video, “Joy of going”.
Selection trials
Around 100 students from various schools of the city took part in the selection trials for a cricket academy on Sunday. The academy was launched by Dinesh Mongia School of Cricket Excellence in collaboration with Sky World School, Sector 21, Panchkula. The academy is open to all students of the city.
Pool activity
MOHALI: To beat the heat, a fun-filled pool activity was organised for students of the kindergarten section at CVRM DAV Public School, Dera Bassi. The students danced while splashing water at each other.
Investiture
The Millennium School, Mohali, organised its annual investiture-cum-annual achiever’s ceremony for the 2015-16 academic session, heralding a new set of student council members. The students’ council march passed and took the oath.
MoU signed
Gurukul Vidyapeeth has signed an MoU with the IECEN, Milano, Italy, to begin an international-level fashion design centre of excellence. With this MoU, Gurukul Vidyapeeth and the IECEN will launch a design department named Design Punto, to provide students with new dimensions in design and fashion. Design Punto, the school of design, Italy, recognises the pedagogic importance of teaching the combined special mix of “project and management”. It will also involve courses ranging from fashion to interior while having prospects to open an architecture and planning programme.
Show and tell’ competition
A ‘show and tell’ competition was organised by AKSIPS-65 Smart School. It was organised to hone the spoken skills and boost the confidence of Class I students. The students were shown different objects and asked to say a few lines about them. Director-Principal Jasmine Kalra and Administrator Sidhant Kalra adjudged the competition.
Salad-making activity
Salad-making and sandwich-making activities were organised by Doon International School. Little chefs of classes I-IV prepared refreshing salads and tempting sandwiches. The purpose of the activity was to teach children how to prepare simple and healthy recipes. — TNS
