Class VIII students of Tribune Model School, Sector 29, visited the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary for biodiversity hunt and nature walk, organized by the Yuvsatta, an NGO, to observe World Biodiversity Day. The students were made aware about the environment conservation and rich flora and fauna of the region. Students of Class IX and X visited the CSIO, Sector 30, Chandigarh to mark National Technology Day.
Mother’s Day celebrated
To pay tributes to the motherhood, children of the pre-primary classes at DAV Model School, Sector 15, invited their mothers to the school. Students enthralled them with their vibrant and colourful performances. All mothers enthusiastically participated in various competitions like photo-frame making and the painting of T-shirts. Later, the principal of the school, Anuja Sharma, distributed prizes among the winners.
GHSS-50
Government High Smart School (GHSS), Sector 50-B, students celebrated World Mother’s Day. The programme started with a talk by house in-charge Amandeep Kaur. She asked students to respect their parents. Students from Classes VII and VIII participated in a poetry recitation competition. Abhishek of Class VIII-A got the first position followed by Seema and Sanjana of Class VIII-A, who won the second and the third positions, respectively.
Talent hunt
Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28-B, organised an inter-house talent hunt competition for Classes VI to X. It was a splendid show where students presented a variety of dances. The first category was of solo dance performance for Classes VI and VII and the second category was of group dance for Classes VIII to X. In the solo dance contest, Aakriti of VII-B bagged the first position and Manya Saini of VII-B stood second. In the group dance category, Dr Manmohan Singh House bagged the first position.
Kavi darbar
The Sarv Sikhya Sudhar Samity, Chandigarh, held a kavi darbaar at Government High School, Dadu Majra. Bhagat Ram Rangarha, president of the Kavi Manch, Mohali; Harpal Singh, president, Punjab Sahit Sabha, encouraged the students to develop creative writing. The students who presented poems were awarded. The organization also awarded the teachers of the school for their good efforts.
Declamation contest
To develop oratory skills in children and to remove the hesitation for public speaking, Doon Public School, Sector 21, Panchkula, organised a declamation contes. The topic for Classes III-V was “Ask the Children to Go to School” and for for Classes VI-VIII, it was “Child Labour is an Abuse”. Children from classes IX_X spoke on the topic “Shape the Future of Children”. Students made their presence felt through well articulated speeches.
Water Conservation Week observed
Water Conservation Week was observed by students of Prep I at DC Model Senior Secondary School, Panchkula. The main objective of the activity was to teach students the need and ways to conserve the elixir of life. Through slide shows, images and anecdotes, children were explained how every drop of water was precious.
Mobile app launched
The chairman of St Soldier School, Mohali, S Karnail Singh Brar, along with parents of schoolchildren launched a mobile App. The app is an all-in-one information source for parents, students and teachers, developed to provide direct access to the most sought after information. The free mobile app will provide access for parents to check their ward’s attendance, academic performance, circulars and any other relevant information at anytime from anywhere.
