A large numbers of residents of Dadu Majra blocked a road for more than three hours in protest against the dumping ground site.
Dalit Raksha Dal president Narinder Chaudhary and Mukhtiar Singh of the Manav Sewa Society led the agitation during which slogans were raised against the authorities concerned.
The leaders said the authorities should stop playing with the lives of Dadu Majra residents. The residents were facing problems due to the dumping ground since long. The leaders said the problem compounded after closure of the garbage processing plant recently as garbage-laden trucks were emptied in the open ground.
Officials from the Municipal Corporation reached the spot and assured the protesters that the plant would resume functioning soon.
