SUBJECT :Forest and WildLife 

 Punjab Governor-cum-UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore today visited the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary and Kansal Log Hut. 

Badnore also planted a sampling of “Lakshmi Taru” (simarouba glauca) on the occasion. Parimal Rai, UT Adviser; MP Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor; Anurag Aggarwal, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary, Forests and Environment; Santosh Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests; and other senior officials of the Forests and Wildlife Department were present. 

The Administrator inspected a few silt retention dams and trekking paths at the sanctuary. He was briefed about flora and fauna at the place. Badnore emphasised on the need to promote sanctuary as ecotourism destination and for sensitising people to wildlife conservation. He directed Forests officials to conduct trekking and similar functions/activities on a regular basis. He said forests and wildlife conservation was his priority area. — TNS
