Chandigarh, August 1
Monsoon today made a brief halt in the city, which recorded 28 mm rainfall after a long dry spell. It had rained about 24 mm four days ago, improving the situation marginally. However, the rainfall for monsoon is still below normal. “It should be about 300 mm from June 1 up to now but it has not reached that mark yet,” said Met director Chattar Singh Malik.
After the rain, humid conditions returned with a maximum relative humidity of 91 per cent. Minimum humidity was 65 -- also high by Met standards.
The maximum temperature declined by about three degree, although the night temperature was more as compared to yesterday. Today’s day and night temperatures were 33.8 and 26.6 degrees, respectively.
