SUBJECT :Environmental Days 

 

As the Hon’ble Prime Minister has called upon the nation to begin a campaign, Swachhata Hi Seva, Cleanliness is Service, from 15th September 2017 to Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2017; thus the ENVIS Centre, Department of Environment & Forests, Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with Northern Regional Office of MoEF&CC has launched The “Swachhta Drive” in the nearby Forest Area of Sector 46-47 on 29th Sept, 2017.

The Swachata Drive was participated with 100 school students of NGC ECO Clubs from Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 47 D,  Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 32 D and Government Model Senior Secondary School, 38 W of Chandigarh. The Event was flagged off by the chief Guest Sh. Brijesh Sikka, Adviser, MoEF&CC, G.O.I.

The Chief Guest Sh. Brijesh Sikka, Adviser, MoEF&CC, G.O.I along with Sh. Surendra Kumar, Advisor, MoEF&CC, G.O.I, Dr. Ajay Mehrotra, Advisor, Northern Regional Officer of MoEF&CC, Chandigarh and Dr. Vimal Kumar Hatwal, Joint Director Northern Regional Office of MoEF&CC, Chandigarh was welcomed by Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests cum Director Environment, Chandigarh Administration and Sh. T. C. Nautiyal , IFS, Conservator of Forests, Chandigarh Administration  . On this occasion Sh. Davesh Moudgil, Area Consular, Sector 47, Chandigarh accompanied with area representatives Sh. Rakesh Sharma, Sh. Avi Bhasin and Sh. Karan Vasudeva were also present.

The Chief Guest, Officers, Teachers, Area Representatives and the Students took oath called “Harit Partigya”, related to the conservation of environment, reduction in waste generation, reuse of materials, saving of electricity and water and plantation of more and more trees.  

The event was followed by cleanliness and sanitation drive in the area with participation of all. The glimpses of the drive are as follows:

At the end the occasion, students were asked to  spread the message of source segregation of waste and creating “Swacchh Neighbourhoods” .After that the  Tree plantation was performed by the students and officers, spreading the message of environmental conservation.
