Chandigarh, August 9
All efforts of the administration to keep the city “smoke free” went up in smoke by members of the Sarav Karmchari Sangh, Haryana, during the rally.

A large number of protesters were seen not only smoking openly but also consuming liquor.

The protesters were violating the ban despite the presence of many police officials.

“I am not aware of the smoke-free status of the city,” said Jairam from Hisar.

“You can see that there is no proper arrangement for water here. So there is no option left for us instead of having beer in the scorching heat,” said Muni Lal from Yamunanagar, who was standing outside a
liquor shop near the rally venue.
