Chandigarh, December 12
With a view to give a fillip to eco-tourism in the union territory, UT administrator S.F. Rodrigues today launched new tourism initiatives of CITCO and forest department by flagging off “nature trails tour”of tourists to Kansal and Nepli Forest area at Sukhna Lake at a brief ceremony.

The innovative programme has been started with a view to educate children and generate awareness among people about the rich floral and faunal heritage and to enable them to enjoy the bounties of nature through trekking at the nature trail, which ranges from 2 ½ km to 8 km in both these forest sanctuaries.

He asked the conservator of forests and CITCO officials to introduce innovative recreational and adventure activities like rock climbing and mountaineering in these forest areas.

Senior officers present at the function included home secretary Ram Niwas, secretary to governor M.P. Singh, CITCO managing director Niharika Rai and conservator of forests Ishwar Singh.
